About Me
An editor, proofreader, content writer, and enthusiastic defender of clear communication and the occasional Oxford comma, Kris has been writing for as long as she can remember. For more than a decade, she has worked in and alongside nonprofit organizations, helping turn big ideas, important missions, and passionate voices into writing that connects.
Kris has written and edited donor appeals, newsletters, web content, campaign materials, annual reports, grant applications — you name it. But her greatest love is storytelling. Kris believes every organization, mission, and person has a story worth telling. The challenge — and the joy — is finding the details, voice, and moments that make that story meaningful to the people who need to hear it.
Before becoming a full-time writer and editor, Kris was a teacher. And a teacher who genuinely loved teaching writing. There’s something satisfying about helping someone take an idea that’s still fuzzy and find the words to make it clear, compelling, and their own. That same joy of helping people communicate has carried over into her work as a writer and editor.
Of course, Kris catches the typos. But the work goes beyond grammar and spelling. She pays close attention to the details that build trust, carefully confirming names, Scripture references, dates, and quoted sources. Because credibility is just as important as good grammar.
Having worked for a major nonprofit, volunteered with community organizations, and supported causes as a donor herself, Kris understands audiences from several perspectives. That experience offers insight into what inspires people to give, to care, and to stay connected to a mission.
When she’s not writing, Kris loves traveling, spending time with her husband and grown kids, reading a good book, and playing her newest obsession, mahjong.
Not necessarily in that order.
